Position Summary: Responsible for Talent Search Program and all aspects of grant implementation.
Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Develop and implement short and long-range goals to accomplish various grant activates.
- Oversee the daily operation of Talent Search program.
- Maintain effective communication and liaison with Target School personnel, college staff and administration, and other community agencies who collaborate to provide services for participants and their families.
- Develop and monitor Talent Search program budget.
- Supervise Talent Search staff activities and services.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and services.
- Make recommendations for hiring, developing staff schedules, supervising and evaluating staff.
- Prepare Annual Performance Report as required by the Department of Education.
- Responsible for record keeping and documentation required by Talent Search grant.
- Provide academic, personal and career counseling to participants as needed.
- Plan and coordinate grant activities with SJSD calendar.
- Coordinate with other NCMC TRIO programs
- Responsible for developing and submitting future TS grant applications.
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and fulfill reporting obligations as required by the Clery Act.
- Attend meetings and college functions as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education: Master’s degree required, Doctoral degree preferred, in education, counseling, social work, higher education administration or related field.
Experience: Three years of professional experience in staff supervision budget management program development and evaluation, reporting, and compliance with federal regulations. Five years professional experience, federal TRIO programs, academic support programs or similar programs for low-income 6-12 graders who are potential first-generation college students. Experience providing academic advising services, 21st century employability skills, non-cognitive skills, and college, career, financial aid and economic literacy information to an assigned caseload of secondary school students. Evidence of the ability to write grant proposals and communicate clear and concise information orally and in written reports. Experience in overcoming barriers similar to those of Talent Search preferred.
Skills: Proven organizational, analytical and time management skills. Ability to build relationships and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Physical Demands: Moving about and between buildings in St. Joseph School District and NCMC campus; reaching, pulling, and pushing when filing; able to do repetitive tasks; remain stationary at a desk while typing and answering phones. Travel to target schools required; valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required. Primary schedule is Monday through Friday; some evenings and weekends may be required.
Environmental Demands: Fluctuations while moving on tile and carpeted floors in a heated and air-conditioned environment.
